Next REVIC meeting: 20 October 2009

Note that this meeting will be held at

Theatre 03, Level 8, RMIT Building 10, 376-392 Swanston Street, Melbourne.  A map can be found here, and a floor plan of Level 8 here.

Note: This meeting has been pushed back to 20 October due to logistical issues and ensuring that the AGM is conducted in accordance with REVIC's Rules of Association. The planned subject for this meeting (Simple Macros in Revit) has been pushed back to November, subject to confirmation of availability of speakers.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

At this (October 20) meeting:

  • Brian Renehan from Cox will present this month's Revit Showcase project: the Cranbourne Aquatic Leisure Centre ($34m, 7,800sqm)
  • We will hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM - refer below for details)
  • We will have a presentation and workhop on Project Template Design, Assembly and Management.  This was one of your top-rated topics from the recent REVIC survey, so if you'd like to see what and how others are creating and managing their templates, make sure you come along!  Whether or not you are responsible for your organisation's template, you will be sure to pick up some useful ideas!
  • We will also serve refreshments at the conclusion of the meeting.

During the AGM, the committee will:

  • present details from the last financial year FY08-09 (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet)
  • hold elections for committee positions, both ordinary and officers

Nominations of members for committee positions

There are a total of four (4) positions available, two (2) of which are for the officer positions of Chairperson and Secretary.

As, or before you accept nomination for a committee position, please consider the following:

  • You are welcome to ask questions of any of the current committee, regarding roles, responsibilities and other ways you may be able to contribute
  • You will learn and develop skills whilst in this position that you might not otherwise
  • You will make contacts that you might not have made otherwise
  • You will be required to contribute to the group, show leadership, and conduct yourself in a professional manner
  • You do not necessarily have to present, though it is a great opportunity to learn and to develop your skills and confidence
  • REVIC is a user's group, so if no-one gives, no-one gains.  It is what you make it.
  • Ensuring that all disciplines and interests within the broader membership are adequately represented is vital to the ongoing success of the group

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for a position, please advise the current committee by emailing the nomination to chair@revic.org.au in accordance with Section 23 from the REVIC Rules of Association:

23. Election of officers and ordinary committee members

1.  Nominations of candidates for election as officers of the Association or as ordinary members of the committee must be--
(a) made in writing, signed by two members of the Association and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate (which may be endorsed on the form of nomination); and
(b) delivered to the Officer of the Association not less than 7 days before the date fixed for the holding of the annual general meeting.
2.  A candidate may only be nominated for one office, or as an ordinary member of the committee, prior to the annual general meeting.
3.  If insufficient nominations are received to fill all vacancies on the committee, the candidates nominated shall be deemed to be elected and further nominations may be received at the annual general meeting.
4.  If the number of nominations received is equal to the number of vacancies to be filled, the persons nominated shall be deemed to be elected.
5.  If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, a ballot must be held.
6.  The ballot for the election of officers and ordinary members of the committee must be conducted at the annual general meeting in such manner as the committee may direct.
